Greetings to all our Drakesbad friends!
We are on target for a June 8, 2012 opening date at the present time. On April 23rd the Plumas County Road Department plowed the Warner Valley Road to the end of the pavement in order to clear the way for the National Park Service to complete snow removal to the Ranch. We hope the road will be open by the middle of May. We are guessing that Drakesbad still has a snow cover of several feet.
Our new Ranch Hosts, Pat and Valerie Flack, will be taking the reigns on May 1. Meanwhile, Ed has accepted the position of manager at the Lassen Café & Gift operation at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at the southwest entrance to the park, which means the Fiebigers will be close at hand for Drakesbad assistance! Billie will split her time between the two operations: assisting Pat and Valerie with Drakesbad’s day-to-day operations until the transition is complete, and then she will move on to operations at Lassen Café & Gift.
The whole team (Pat, Valerie, Billie, and Ed) is very excited about the changes and challenges. Pat and Valerie look forward to meeting you at Drakesbad this summer, and hope that many of you will take a drive to the Visitor Center to say hello to the Fiebigers and enjoy the splendid surroundings of that part of Lassen!
